ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

10 years old - 999 years old (Primary 6 & below requires a parental consent form)

"Read Handbell Notations", "Self-Motivated" & "Team Player".

MINIMUM Music Qualifications

attend a compulsory 3-trial sessions with the MOB on our weekly Saturday practice, so our selection panel may assess your suitability.

HOW OFTEN DOES MOB REHEARSE & PERFORM: Weekly Saturday rehearsals (1000-1130hrs / 1145 - 1315hrs) & perform an average of 30+ shows per year

WHAT IF I CANNOT PERFORM FOR ALL THE SHOWS: All performances are on "voluntary-basis", except for our annual concert & special events.

WILL MOB AFFECT MY STUDIES / WORK: We allow members to take "exam-breaks" like CCAs & also if necessary, other reasons on a by-case basis.

IS THERE ANY FEE SUSCRIPTION TO JOIN THE MOB: From 2011: Adults @ $40 / Students @ $20 (per financial year, non pro-rated basis)

DO WE PAY FOR OUR COSTUMES: Everyone purchases their own black costumes, except occasionally, the MOB will sponsor its casual team attires.

DO WE PAY FOR BELLz & MUSIC SCORES: No. The bellz & other instruments are sponsored by the Music Director & Lim Yong Productions. Again, we seek only committed individuals to join our team.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TEAM A & TEAM B: Team A rings Level 4 & 5 music. It demands for highly-skilled & committed individuals to ring as a team. Team B rings Level 3 & 4 music. It allows ringers to ring at a comfortable & enjoyable pace while aiming for a Level 4/5 assessment for certification. From time to time, Team B will combine with Team A.

IF I'M IN TEAM B, CAN I RING WITH TEAM A: The objective of team B is allow the ringer to ring at their comfortable and enjoyable pace & allow opportunities to self-improve by achieving the minimum musical qualification to ring in Team A. Once you have met the requirement AND if opportunity exists, then you may move on to Team A fully. From time to time, Team B will combine with Team A.

IF I'M IN TEAM A, IS MY POSITION SECURE: Team A demands for highly-skilled & committed individuals to tackle musically & technically challenging works. If there is a need to, re-selection will done annually, as the MOB benchmark for entry requirements are raised every 2 years.

The 31-member MINISTRIE OF BELLz (MOB) was established in June 2007, founded, sponsored & directed by Baba Damien Lim. From April 2011, it became an independant registered "not for profit" arts organisation.

The MOB is Singapore's 1st privately funded ensemble, outside Schools & Churches. The team's performance schedule includes Birthday Parties, Weddings, Church Celebrations, Christmas & Open Season, Corporate & Charity Events, Government & Private Functions. Up to date, the team has amassed more than 160 shows including performances in Hong Kong, (KL & Melaka) Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, New Zealand, USA, Canada & Taiwan. The MOB also organises the bi-annual "SINGBellz FEST", Singapore's very Own Handbells' Festival, as well a major supporter of the "HANDBELLS ASIA 2010".

The team's repertoire includes Christmas Carols, Children Tunes, Evergreens, Light Latin, Jazz, Collection of Singapore & Asian Tunes as well as World Folk Songs, effectively fusing the genres with a wide-array of ethnic percussive & keyboard instruments, creating a truly Uniquely Singaporean Sound.

The MOB's pioneer members include qualified Ringers, Percussionists & Keyboardists from the Four-4 Percussion Team, GOLD w/HONOURS, GOLD & SILVER Award ringers from the Singapore Youth Festival as well as Handbells/Chimes Instructors. Coming together with the common passion of Handbells Ringing & Music Making, the ensemble aims to be a "Leader in Handbells Music" in Singapore & Southeast-Asia. In 2010, the ensemble attained a "Level 5 with Merit" in Handbell Ensemble Performance, assessed by the London College of Music (UK).
